Frequently asked questions

Quick answers on visas, fees, seasons, altitude and how we work.

Not for the visa: you can apply online yourself, or let a tour company or hotel do it for you. But a licensed guide is required to enter dzongs and monuments and to travel beyond Thimphu and Paro, and hotels must be certified — so most visitors book their guide, vehicle and hotels together with a local company like us.
A daily fee set by the Government of Bhutan: US$100 per adult per night, US$50 for children aged 6–11, and none for children under 6. Indian nationals pay Nu. 1,200 per night (Nu. 600 for ages 6–11). These rates apply until 31 August 2027. We show the SDF clearly as a separate line in every quotation.
The Bhutan visa is a one-off US$40. Indian nationals receive an entry permit instead of a visa. Nationals of Bangladesh and the Maldives need a visa, which follows its own process — ask us and we will guide you.
Every journey we arrange is private and built around your dates, group size, hotel choice and vehicle. We send a personal quotation so you only pay for what you actually want.
